Model Development photography shoots are specifically geared toward creating model portfolios that include a variety of looks (both commercial and fashion) to best represent the model as marketable. These photography sessions are ideal for new models who do not currently have a portfolio, or established models who need an updated portfolio of high-end images.

If you are brand new to modeling, Anthony will help you with posing, expressions, wardrobe recommendations, agency information, etc.

Many photographers in Boston offer portfolio sessions, but my approach comes from years of working directly on fashion and commercial campaigns. That experience shapes how I guide models, from styling choices to posing and expression, so the images feel current and relevant to what agencies and clients look for. The result is a portfolio that not only looks polished but also connects to the standards of real-world fashion work.

What’s Included in the Model Development Session

1. In-studio session time

The Portfolio session includes 2 hours in studio. The Portfolio Plus session runs 2-3 hours depending on pace and number of looks. If hair and makeup is included, an additional hour is added.

2. Number of looks

Each session is designed around a focused set of looks that can be executed well within the time frame. In most cases, this results in approximately 5–6 looks, depending on pacing and outfit changes.

3. Retouched final images

Depending on the package, you’ll receive 10-15 fully retouched images, delivered in both high-resolution and web formats.

4. Variety of lighting styles

Each session includes multiple lighting setups tailored to the needs of working models, ranging from clean e-commerce lighting to fashion editorial and catalog styles. This ensures your portfolio reflects the variety agencies and clients expect.

5. Posing direction & industry insight

No experience is required; every session includes full, in-the-moment coaching on posing, expression, and movement. I’ve worked with hundreds of first-time and professional models, and my approach is built around helping you look confident, natural, and marketable, even if you’ve never been in front of a camera before. 6. Post-shoot image selection

After the shoot, you’ll receive a private online proof gallery. You’ll select your favorites for retouching, with recommendations available to help you choose your strongest images.

Use the online calendar to view available time slots and book directly. You’ll receive a confirmation and intake form after booking.

2. Prepare with expert resources

After booking, you’ll receive a wardrobe and prep guide covering what to bring, how to plan your looks, and what to expect. These materials are designed to help you get the most out of your session, whether you’re just starting out or updating an agency portfolio.

3. Shoot day: fully guided in-studio experience

All sessions take place in my professional Beverly, MA studio. I’ll direct every pose, outfit change, and expression to ensure a wide variety of marketable images.

4. Review your proofs and select final images

Within a few days, you’ll receive a private gallery to review your unretouched images and select your favorites for editing.

5. Retouching & digital delivery

Your final retouched images will be delivered digitally in both web and high-resolution formats, ready for agency submission, comp cards, or your personal portfolio.

How soon will I get my photos?

After the shoot, you will receive a web gallery of the best images within 3-4 days. Once you make your selections, the retouching process can take anywhere from 2-3 weeks. During busy times this will be on the longer side. You always have the option to have your retouched images delivered within 2 days, which incurs a rush-processing fee of $100.

Rush image details:

When a client requests the rush processing, I do not delay other clients who have not paid for the rush processing and are waiting for their images. Rather, I work overtime the day it is requested to complete both the rush request and the client already waiting, hence the additional cost. Thank you!

My background in fine art, with a degree from The School of the Museum of Fine Arts and a graduate degree from the University of Chicago, informs my approach to photography. Not at all. Most of my clients are either new to modeling or updating their portfolio for agencies. I’ll guide you through every pose, expression, and look; no experience necessary.

What if I need to reschedule?

Rescheduling is easy. Just click the “reschedule appointment” link in your original confirmation email. If your session does not include hair and makeup, please provide at least 24 hours’ notice. For sessions that include a hair and makeup artist, we require 72 hours’ notice.

Because studio time is held just for you once you book, cancellations are not available. However, rescheduling is always an option. This flexibility is built in so you can book with confidence, knowing you have room to adjust if something comes up.

What if I’ve never liked photos of myself?

A lot of people come in feeling unsure about how they photograph, especially if they don’t have much experience. I’ll guide you through posing, expression, and everything needed to create strong, natural images. Quite simply, we want to take the best photos of you that you’ve ever seen.

However, the goal here isn’t to build a single “perfect” angle or create something that only works under very specific conditions. We’re creating images that reflect how you actually look at your best, in a way that holds up in real-world situations, castings, campaigns, etc. When modeling professionally, you won’t have control over lighting, angles, or every detail of how you’re seen, so this process is about developing images that are honest, flexible, and usable across a range of scenarios.

This works best when you’re able to stay present and engage with the process, rather than trying to control or perfect every detail in real time. If you tend to strongly dislike every photo of yourself or are looking for something highly specific or controlled, this likely won’t feel like the right fit.
