WHAT IS THE MODEL WORKSHOP?

A Practical Introduction to the Modeling Industry

The Model Workshop is a one-day educational event that combines a morning lecture, a live demonstration with a professional model, and an optional afternoon photoshoot experience.

Throughout the day, participants gain a practical understanding of how the modeling industry actually works. Topics include agencies, portfolios, castings, bookings, client expectations, professional etiquette, and the realities of pursuing modeling as a business.

Attendees also observe a professional photoshoot from start to finish, including hair and makeup preparation, wardrobe changes, posing, direction, and the decision-making process behind a working shoot.

All attendees participate in the morning lecture and live demonstration, providing a comprehensive introduction to the industry and the way professional shoots operate in practice.

A limited number of participants continue into the afternoon for a guided photoshoot experience, working directly with the creative team through multiple looks while receiving professional direction and applying the concepts discussed earlier in the day. Because of the hands-on nature of this portion, participation is limited to just 8 spots.

What Happens During the Day

See the Industry in Action.

The workshop is built around three core components: a morning lecture, a live demonstration with a professional model, and an optional afternoon photoshoot experience. Together, these portions are designed to help new models understand how the industry works both in theory and in practice.
01

Morning Lecture

The day begins with an extensive discussion covering agencies, portfolios, castings, model categories, industry expectations, finances, professionalism, and the realities of pursuing modeling as a business. Questions are encouraged throughout.

02

Live Demonstration

Watch a professional model work through a complete shoot demonstration from start to finish. Observe hair and makeup preparation, wardrobe changes, posing, photographer direction, communication on set, and the decision-making process behind creating professional images.

03

Questions & Discussion

Throughout the day, attendees have the opportunity to ask questions and receive direct answers from working industry professionals. The goal is not only to provide information, but to help attendees understand how that information applies to their own goals and circumstances.

04

Afternoon Shoot Session

Shoot Participants continue into the afternoon for a guided photoshoot experience. Participants work directly with the creative team through multiple looks while receiving professional direction and applying the concepts discussed earlier in the day. Observer attendees participate in the lecture, demonstration, and discussion portions of the workshop before the afternoon shoot begins.

Why This Workshop Exists

Most New Models Don't Know Where to Start.

Most new models are told to build a portfolio, submit to agencies, attend castings, grow social media, and invest in professional photos. What is often missing is a clear understanding of how those pieces fit together. As a result, many aspiring models spend time and money pursuing opportunities without fully understanding what agencies, photographers, clients, and creative teams are actually looking for. The Model Workshop was created to help new models understand how the industry actually works before deciding where to invest their time, money, and energy.
